  1. So the silk from China would have traveled all the way from China, through the Silk Road and landed here in this glamorous building in Spain in the 14th century.

    Silk at that period probably had the same status as gold.

  2. It had, and the merchants were filthy rich. Valencia features many Gothic buildings, (government buildings, private palaces…) as a lot of wealth was circulating. It apparently also was a sort of “sin city” of the times, according to the chronicles.
