Jodhpur, popularly known as the Blue City for the houses painted in blue, is a view to behold from the walls of the Mehrangarh Fort. The city takes pride in its landscape, forts and boasts of having the world’s best hotel – the Umaid Bhawan Palace. All the noisy, dusty, crowded streets in the city transforms into a beautiful photogenic landscape when seen from the Mehrangarh Fort. The fort is Jodhpur’s identity and stands tall and majestic on top of a hill, sort of commanding the attention of all its citizens. Hotels and guesthouses compete with each other to offer the best view of the Fort.
When every traveler celebrates the Fort and shares memories of the view of the city from the fort during the day or the fantastic sunrise and sunset, I choose to share a picture of Jodhpur in the night. Glittering like precious stones, this picture was taken on a cold January night, the gentle breeze on top of the hill wafted the sound of wedding music from the distance, faint noise of vehicles honking and city life down below. Last but not the least, the view of the Umaid Bhawan Palace in all its nightly glory, bathing in golden light looks spectacular, yearning the traveler in me to visit the Palace tomorrow and even encouraged me to dream shamelessly – to book a suite there some day and live royal with the Royals who still live in the Palace to this day.
