Varanasi(Benaras), India

Have heard of Mark Twain??

Yes of course! that sublime American author & humorist, who wrote splendid “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer” said a long time ago,
“Benares(then contemporary name of the city) is older than history, older than tradition, older even than legend, and looks twice as old as all of them put together”.

Hinduism is the oldest alive civilization of the world, and India aka “Bharat or Hindustan” is the nation where most people are hindu culture.
Varanasi is the “Cultural Capital” of India,
still has a famous name,”Kashi” which means; the land which keeps shining, derived from the Sanskrit word, ‘Kashya’.

It is home of the Lord Shiva, River Ganges, & many spiritual practitioners who seek salvation.

Just 9 km away from Dashashwamedh Ghat (Important bank of Ganges river), Lord Buddha gave his 1st sermon in Sarnath (also in Varanasi), many people who seek Nirvana in their lives, they also come to this city, Varanasi, by Buddha’s 1st preaching words.
So Its a city of two religion: Hinduism & Buddhism.

A common colloquial catchphrase; Har Har Mahadev (Hail Lord Shiva, Hail Lord Shiva).

I’m Happy to describe about this city. 🙂
