Cooking in the Trullo

This culinary day trip will take you in some of Puglia’s most fascinating sights. First you will visit a historic Masseria in Itria Valley, home to an ancient olive mill and some of the oldest olive trees in the region: incredible, ancient gnarled living monuments. After an entertaining and informative tour, you will enjoy a tasting of some delicious extra vergin olive oils.
In the early afternoon we will then head to Alberobello, UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for Trulli, little whitewashed houses with conical roofs unique to Puglia. On our guided Alberobello tour you will learn the fascinating story of their origin and visit trulli made into shops, restaurants, and even a church. Take also time on your own to admire further these unique creations, sip a cappuccino and/or a glas of wine. Next it’s time to enjoy a savory cooking class at a locals’ home, a typical Trullo-house, unique to Puglia. This will be absolutely outstanding ! In a real authentic Puglian trullo Gianni & his wife Mina will teach us how to prepare a selection of Puglian typical recipes, such as the famous “orecchiette cime di rapa”, polpette, and some typical vegetarian side dishes. Follows a memorable dinner with all dishes we prepared and great local wine at Gianni’s trullo-home.
